Staff Accomodation

What does the day look like for staff?
At Camp Middlesex, each staff member is a cabin counselor and a specialist. In the morning, you will be working in your program area, while during the down times, you will be working in a cabin of 8-10 campers with another counselor. All counselors and staff receive at least 2 hours off per day. Staff also receive 1-2 nights off per week (after dinner until curfew at 11:30), as well as only being required to work 1 weekend during the entire summer. Salaries range from $1,500 to $2,100 for our staff. At Camp Middlesex, we look after our staff to make sure that they are recieving the proper training, time off, and experience that they expect from camp! By the end of the summer, the staff always comment that the experience was amazing, and can't wait to return!

Lodging
Camp Middlesex's bunk capacity ranges from 8 to 14 beds in each cabin, providing a total of 100 beds. The cabins are equipped with lights, electricity, bunks and mattresses. Centralized bathhouses with toilets and hot showers are located nearby. Visitors bring their own bedding. Each counselor sleeps in a cabin with 8-10 campers and another counselor.

Staff Lounge
Officially completed in 2006, Alumni Lodge houses the staff lounge area, laundry facilities, staff bathrooms, and administrative offices. The staff lounge offers a place away from camp to enjoy some rest and relaxation on your time off. In the staff lounge you can check your e-mail (on the staff computers or on a laptop with wireless access), watch a DVD, play a video game, or just have a nap. We also offer laundry facilities to our staff with 2 washers and dryers available, with no charge. We even provide the laundry detergent!

Meals
We employ a food service director every summer to cook home cooked family-style meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There is a full service salad bar available for lunch and dinner. Our food service director can also meet with staff to discuss unique dietary needs.

Laundry
Laundry facilities are available for staff to use on their time off periods. There are 2 washers and 2 dryers, and we provide laundry detergent for the staff to use.

Free Time
Each staff member is given at least 2 periods off a day, as well as one - two nights off per week. Staff members are only required to work one weekend during the summer, so they are free to visit the outlaying community on the weekend. Boston is a popular spot to visit as well as Cape Cod. The camp also rents a van every other weekend for the staff to use on their weekends off as well.

Training
At Camp Middlesex we will certify you in lifeguarding courses, boating courses, or other instructor courses depending on what certs you need for your area.
