Steven LaFountain, M.Ed.
Executive Director - 8th Summer
Hometown: Rindge, New Hampshire

Steve is originally from Albany, NY. He went to college at Franklin Pierce College in NH, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Elementary Education. He earned his first Master’s Degree in Elementary Education at Fitchburg State College in 2002. His second Master's degree in Reading Education was completed in 2007 at Worcester State College.

He has worked in the camping business for 12 seasons, moving up the ranks as counselor, head counselor, CIT Director, Assistant Director, and now Executive Director. Currently, he lives in Rindge, NH and teaches 5th grade at Narragansett Middle School in Templeton, Massachusetts.

"Hi, my name is Ann-Marie and I am your nurse for half of the time at camp. This will be my 7th year and I'm really excited to be coming back for four weeks. I am a Registered Nurse and work as a school nurse. I am married and live in Lancaster, MA with my two boys (ages 18 and 20). I really enjoy meeting new people and using my nursing skills to provide comfort and care. I can't think of a better place to do that than at 4-H Camp Middlesex!  See you soon."

Jessica Maxwell

“How excited am I for the summer to begin!?  Hi, I’m Jessica and this will be my 12th summer at Camp Middlesex, 2nd summer as Program Director.  I first came to camp as a camper in 1991 and moved up the ranks to counselor, continuing to come for 10 summers.  I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, and have spent time working on Cruise Ships traveling the world as a Youth Counselor.  Currently, I have been spending my ‘off-season’ teaching preschool to a lovely class of 3 year olds.  I am so happy to return this summer and can’t wait for the moment I see all the smiling faces crossing the bridge!”


 

Caitlin Nichols
Teen Camp Director - 4th Summer

I'm Caitlin and this will be my forth summer at camp. I graduated from the State University of New York at Brockport last year and have recently moved from upstate New York to Ashand, Mass to try and find a use for my Anthropology and Earth Science degree. At the moment I'm keeping busy teaching swim lessons at my local YMCA and hopefully interning at a nonprofit charity in the near future. I'm very excited to be getting back to the pool this summer as the pool director to continue to improve the swimming program.  I Can't wait to get back to camp for summer 2010!"

"Well here we go again!  After taking a summer off to "grow up" I am returning to Camp Middlesex for what will hopefully be another long streak of summers, starting once again with the summer of 2010!  As it turns out, I've done more growing up in my summers at summer camp, especially at Camp Middlesex from 2006-2008.

For those who are just meeting me this summer, my name is James and I am from Barrie, Ontario, Canada.  After graduating with my Bachelor's of Education, I have started working in preschool education as a preschool/before-and-after school teacher.  This will be my 4th summer at Camp Middlesex as the Junior Camp and CIT Director.  I have lots of really exciting and cool ideas to bring to the table this summer, and I can't wait to be working with such a great team, filled with old and new faces.

Hi, I’m Kim and this will be my 3rd summer at Camp Middlesex.  I first came to day camp in 2006.  After a two year break, I've decided to come back! 
I have lived all over the place but am originally from Levittown, Pennsylvania.  I graduated from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania.  I have been taking classes at the University of Virgina in hopes of persuing a Masters in Guidance.
Currently, I have been spending my ‘off-season’ teaching third grade in Virginia.  
I can't wait to meet new campers and staff and be reunited with old friends!"

"Hey, my name is Steven Hallet and I can't tell you how excited I am for this summer. While I'm not at camp I attend Mount Wachusset, studying education. I also love to write and tell stories, and bring this love of literature with me to camp. At camp I teach science and rocketry and live in Pineside four. "HEY! My name is Haley and I am currently finishing up my senior year at Monty Tech studying Early Childhood Education.  This is my fourth year as a lifeguard, but my first summer at 4-H!  In my spare time I enjoy performing in my school's musicals and functions. Whenever I am around, you can be certain that there will be some attempts at singing or dancing or just a fun time! I cannot wait until this spectacular summer working as a lifeguard! "Hello! My name is Amy and I am a college student double majoring in Theater and History. My specialty is musical theater, and I have experience with vocal training as well. I am very excited to work at Camp Middlesex this summer, especially since it was the camp I grew up attending. My favorite activities were Theater and Horseback, and I still love all the old camp songs. I can't wait to be back at camp this summer for more Camp Middlesex adventures!"

 

 

Rachael Walker
Dance - 1st Summer
Hometown: Paisley, Scotland

"Hi there :) I’m Rachael Walker, and I’m 18 and from Paisley in Scotland. I study Early Childhood Education and Childcare at college and have a view to study Primary Teaching in September 2010. I am a teacher of Cheerleading and Freestyle and will be sitting teaching exams in Tap, Modern, Ballet and Jazz in the following months. I am also part of a DCA Cheerleading Squad and do competitions yearly. I am quite lively, up for a laugh, love doing new things and meeting new people.  This will be my first year at Camp Middlesex and I cannot wait to get started (:

 

 

Michael Dearn
Theater - 1st Summer
Hometown: Braintree, Massachusetts

Michael Dearn, who normally goes by Mikey, is more than thrilled to be joining the Camp Middlesex staff this summer as a theater counselor. Originally from Braintree, Mikey attends school at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams where he majors in Theatre and Early Childhood Education. Mikey has been a member of the International Thespian Society since 2004 and has loved theatre and the arts his whole life. He is so excited that he will get to share his passion for the performing arts with the campers of Camp Middlesex.

 

 

Mackenzie Pratt

Hey, my name’s Mackenzie and I live in Brookline, New Hampshire. I’ve loved my past three years at Camp Middlesex, one as a camper and then two more as a CIT. This will be my first year as a counselor and I’m so excited! I’m an honor student at Hollis Brookline High School. In my spare time I like to read, watch movies, act, and hang out with my friends. I can’t wait to see all my old friends and meet some new people. I’ll be counting down the weeks!"

 

Jesse Crane

"I’m Jesse, and this summer I’ll be going into my Senior year at Westford Academy right here in Massachusetts. This will be my first summer working at Camp Middlesex and I’m really excited. I love the outdoors, especially hiking and boating. I look forward to seeing everyone at camp!"

"Hiya everyone, I'm Morgan (friends call me Morgs or Mogg, so feel free!) I graduated from University last year, and have been working hard ever since so I can make my way to camp this year.  This will be my first summer camp experience and I am super excited to have been placed at Middlesex.  I grew up on a farm, so the Barnyard position is perfect for me- bring on the chickens and sheep!

"Hi everyone! My name is Meghan and this summer will be my second summer as a counselor. Currently, I’m a senior at Bishop Guertin in Nashua, New Hampshire, where I lead both Art National Honor Society and Amnesty International. In the fall I’ll be a freshman at the University of South Carolina, where I plan to pursue a degree in International Affairs and Political Science. I’m so excited to return to camp for another great summer – this one even better than the last! I’m especially looking forward to residing in Pine Side ONE-derful again! See you all this summer! "Hello, I'm 18 and am going to be a freshman at Fitchburg State, where I will be majoring in Film Production. This is my first year at camp and I'm excited to meet a lot of new people from all over the world. I am going to be working in low ropes. I have a great sense of humor and am easy to get along with. I love to make movies, travel, listen to music, play and watch sports, mostly baseball and football (American). I am hoping to one day become a feature film director. My favorite directors are Kubrick, Tarantino, Scorsese, Hitchcock, and the Cohen brothers. I hope I can learn a lot from others, and teach other people as well. "This will be my second year at Camp Middlesex. Last year I was the fishing counslor but this year I've decided to change it up a bit and I'll be in the Kitchen. I've worked at various resturant and food establishments, from full service and fast food resurtants to deli's and caferteria syle kitchens. I've been everything from a line cook to a manager. Currently when I'm not a camp, I'm a paraprofessional teacher in Weston,MA in a kindergarten extension program. I also attend college and I'm persuing my B.A in elementary education and hopefully continuing to get my M.Ed. But most of all I can't wait to be back at camp for Summer 2010!"

"Hi everyone, my name is René Losada. I’m 20 years old, and this will be my first summer at camp. I attend college where I’m an International Business Student. "Hi! I'm 20 years old and I study English Philology. I like sports, especially football, and music (hip-hop). This will be my first year at the Camp, so yes, I am pretty excited. I've always wanted to visit the States. Meeting people from other parts of the world and working with them also sounds pretty cool. ;) All in all, I'm hoping that this summer will be one of the greatest. ;)"
